How To Play

Erebus is a true online Trading Card Game designed to be the ultimate expression of what a TCG can be. It's easy to pick up, easy to understand, yet difficult to master.

Let's start with the basics:

The goal of the game is to bring your opponents life points to 0. You do this by skillfully playing your cards, summoning creatures & casting spells, whittling their health down until you deal the final blow.

There are roughly 250~ cards to collect (not counting art variations) spread across  9 different tribes (and neutral cards), each of which has a different effect and interacts with other cards in different ways. You'll use these cards to build a deck, which you'll take into battle with you.

The main card types are:
Creatures - which are summoned onto the battlefield to fight on your behalf. They have attack & health, and can attack other creatures and your opponent directly.
Spells - which are cast from your hand in order to activate their effect.
Weapons - which are equipped onto your hero to enable them to attack directly.

There are also a variety of effects including Poison, Burn, Taunt, Convert, Blood Armor, Sleep, and a lot more - really we'd be here all day if we listed them all.

Each card has a set mana cost in order to play it, located in the upper left corner. You can play as many cards as you have the mana for, in any combination you see fit.

Each player begins the game with 1 mana, and gains 1 mana per turn up to a maximum of 10. At the start of each turn, mana is refreshed to its new (or current) maximum. Any unspent mana is NOT rolled over to a new turn, and simply goes away.

It may sound like a lot to take in, but it's very intuitive and very easy to pick up.

Origins of The Game

Erebus is a game about making the most out of the cards you're dealt. In many ways, it's kind of a reflection of my life so far. Without going into too much detail, let's just say that life hasn't been as kind as it could have been - I've made it through bankruptcies, betrayals & even kidnappings (yes, that's a plural) - and every time I've come out the other side stronger & wiser.

Erebus was born from one supposedly unlucky draw of the cards - things happened, and I had to ask myself what I was going to do about it. My answer was to make a game. Something I'd always wanted to do, but had never tried making. Well, before I knew it I had the entirety of Erebus finished on paper - in fact, everything was ready to release a tabletop version. But, I decided that I could do even better, and I turned that game into the video game you see today - Erebus.

It's been a hell of a ride, and just like every other nasty thing that's happened in my life I'm ultimately grateful to the people who caused me the problems that led to making Erebus. Without them, who knows where I'd be today?
